Webb Australia Group Sydney were recently involved in the Electrical, Specialist Lighting and Mechanical Design Services for the parkland development.
Conveniently located near the Campbelltown CBD, Billabong Parklands is the perfect outdoor destination for families and fun. This state-of-the-art water recreation space also includes BBQ facilities, scenic picnic areas and shaded huts. The landscape features of the design are based on the local Dharawal National Park and Georges River to reflect the importance of our local environment and Aboriginal culture.
Webb Australia Group Sydney were recently involved in the Electrical, Specialist Lighting and Mechanical Design Services for the parkland development.
The lighting design was developed in layers or hierarchy, with a base functional layer, prioritised to comply with AS/NZS 1158 standards and public safety, in conjunction with a risk assessment with Council. To allow for flexibility, the level of illumination could be controlled and dimmed, via a programmable lighting control system.
A base functional layer will illuminate the main ring pathways, with pole top luminaires with zero cut off asymmetric pathway distribution.
Landscape features and minor paths would be illuminated to the lowest levels, by an embellishment layer and gentle spill.
Dark Sky design principles were proposed and designed, with the functional lighting designed and aimed with light spill below the horizontal and any uplighting to be located under buildings, tree canopies or of small output to graze vertical surfaces.
The lighting concept of the amenities building structures will be naturally lit by daylight during normal opening hours. When occupied in the evening, these structures should glow like beacons, directing users of its location from afar. For this to occur, the canopies and vertical surfaces are washed with light and glare free with no ceiling mounted downlights used.
